With the school year now ending, the Prince Albert public and catholic divisions are celebrating a milestone with one of their initiatives.

The “Feeding Our Future” program is an emergency lunch program providing meals to children in need from Kindergarten through Grade 8.

As of March, of this year, the Sask. Rivers and Prince Albert Catholic School Divisions have served over 250,000 lunches.

“Each school year we’ve noticed more students coming to school without the necessary nutrition required to support healthy mental and physical growth,” said Superintendent of Schools with Sask. Rivers Cory Trann. “The Feeding our Future emergency lunch program provides our students – in a dignified manner – to have the same access as their peers to a healthy lunch during the school day.

Launched in 2016, the program partners include Lakeland Ford, Lakeland Hyundai, Broda Group, Lake Country Co-op, Conexus Credit Union, and B&B Construction. Together, these businesses have filled an urgent need for kids in Prince Albert – providing nutrition and allowing children to learn

“Your commitment to ensuring that all children have a nutritious lunch to eat while at school is making a lasting impact on the health and well-being of our community. Feeding our Future is making a difference,” said Superintendent of Education with PACSD, Charity Dmytruk.
