P.A. Child Care opening up new location; plans in place to open another in 2023

A new childcare and early learning space is opening up in Prince Albert.

Prince Albert Child Care Co-operative Association is partnering with the Prince Albert Catholic School Division (PACSD) to open its third location inside St. Michael Community School.

Jodene Demorest, executive director of the association, told paNOW that this comes when the need in the community is high.

“We have multiple calls daily for families looking for childcare and early learning settings for their children.”

She believes a big reason for the increase in demand is simply the cost. The plans by the provincial government to reduce how much families have to pay are allowing some who couldn’t afford the service an opportunity to take advantage.

This location will be equipped to look after 12 infants, 10 toddlers, and 15 preschoolers.

Demorest said moving into St. Michael is a big win for them as they’re getting four gigantic rooms for all their activities, but also a big win for the community.

“We’re trying to hit areas where demand is the greatest.”

Meanwhile, the association isn’t waiting too long to open up their fourth location.

They also have an agreement in place with the PACSD to open up another space in St. John Community School.

Demorest noted this location should be ready sometime in 2023.

“That one is going to need a little bit of renovations for us to meet current Saskatchewan childcare guidelines.”

Those interested in getting their kids a spot in these locations can call the association at 306-922-5352.
