Vandals go on smashing spree in West Flat neighbourhood

Jun 22, 2022 | 12:07 PM

A number of residents who live in Prince Albert’s West Flat neighbourhood are filing insurance claims.

Sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, multiple vehicles along 13th. St. W. had their windows smashed. One man was outside with his vacuum when paNOW came by the scene.

“We haven’t had any problems around here for ages,” he said.

The man explained he was at home this morning watching television when he received a knock on the door and it was the police. Moments later he learned two of his truck windows had been smashed and the culprits had gone through his vehicle.

Prince Albert police are investigating.

The most recent crime statistics available from the City’s Police Service are for the period ending May 31. In May, there were 118 reports of mischief/ wilful damage. This compared to 119 for the same month in 2021.

Year-to-date there have been 438 related reports, which were also on par for the same five-month period last year.
