REGINA, Sask. – Recognizing innovation continues to be a major component of Canada’s Farm Show.

The Innovation Program encourages companies to show their new inventions or the improvements made to existing ideas or products.

Three awards were presented on June 20 at the President’s Reception.

One was given for VeriGrain’s Sample Acquisition and Information Management System which is an inventory intelligence system that allows producers to track grain quality and quantity as it is sampled while being loaded in and out of storage. A digital record is created using the VeriGrain app. Grain samples are stored in bar-coded containers and tamper-evident bags for easy management and traceability.

Lucent Bio’s Soileos Bioactive Crop Nutrients were recognized. It’s a suite of bioactive crop nutrition products that enhances yields, increases crop quality, improves soil health, and amplifies nutrient density. Lucent BioSciences’ patented process upcycles agriculture and food processing cellulose-rich co-products like lentil, pea, wheat, and oat hulls into a sustainable delivery agent for nutrients.

Seedmaster was also honoured for its recently commercialized Ultra SR single rank seeder. At 60 feet wide with 750 bushels of total capacity, it has maneuverability, and contours to the land to ensure precise seed and fertilizer placement.

The innovation submissions were judged by an independent panel on the criteria of appeal and design, novelty, utility & function, ingenuity, quality and scope, additional features, value, and marketability.

A total of 26 submissions were received.

Canada’s Farm Show continues until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
