The P.A. Downtown Street Fair is back!

Jun 17, 2022 | 4:00 PM

It has been a long three years, but finally, the Prince Albert Street Downtown Street Fair is finally coming back.

The one-day festival takes over downtown starting at 10:00 a.m. Saturday and will feature a variety of activities, live entertainment, food, and cars.

Bouncy castles, mascots, balloon twisting and face painting are just some of the child-friendly events happening on top of other things.

“This year, we’re having our first ever Fill Up The Bus fundraiser campaign for the Prince Albert Food Bank,” said Rhonda Trusty, executive director of Prince Albert Downtown. “In conjunction with that, we’re having an Aboriginal designer fashion show. The Historical Museum is having free admission. One of the things we’re most excited about is having the classic car show which is going to be located at the city staff parking lot just on the north side of city hall.”

The last time these events took place was in June of 2019 and Trusty said it’s been a long road to bringing this spectacle back to the city.

She said nothing would be possible without the support of local sponsors.

“The level of support from the community has been absolutely wonderful. Our budget is quite small for Street Fair and we promote it as a free, family fun event. Of course, it’s not free behind the scenes so the sponsorship is vital to the success of the Prince Albert Downtown Street Fair.”

One major difference people will notice is the number of seating options that will be available. Trusty said they are bringing in around 20 picnic tables, donated by the Prince Albert Exhibition Centre. Around 200 will also be provided.

Trusty said they wanted to make sure everyone could come in and really enjoy the atmosphere.

“I’m just trying to create an atmosphere where people come down and they stay for a few hours and they really take in the entertainment, the food and just the general festive atmosphere that we’re trying to create.”

The Street Fair wraps up at 6:00 p.m. and you can find more details on the events at the Prince Albert Downton Business Improvement District website.
