Old Legends finish second at 55 plus games

Jun 16, 2022 | 2:00 PM

Facing a team they had beat one day prior, but still knowing the challenge ahead was going to be tough, the Old Legends entered Thursday morning’s gold medal game with a determination to win the war.

Unfortunately, the harder-hitting Regina Crush brought some bigger guns and would win 19-6.

Solo shots by Bob Krause and Darryl Stasiuk were among two of the stinging blows dealt to the Legends. But even as the gap widened throughout the game, the Legends never once showed any signs of giving up.

Highlights for the Legends were doubles by Joanne Moisan at the bottom of the third, scoring two and helping narrow the gap at that point to 12-4. Grant Gordon also led off the top of the sixth inning with a double.

All things considered, the Crush were due for a win, having last won the tournament in 2014 and being beat by the Legends numerous times.
