A man from Tisdale has a big smile after winning $500,000 in the lottery.

James Wright bought a Lotto Max ticket at the Lake Country Co-op on 15th Street in Prince Albert on May 27.

Over the following mornings coffee with his wife, he noticed someone in Saskatchewan had won the Lotto Max draw.

“Wouldn’t that be something if that was my ticket?” he recalled thinking.

He checked his ticket on the Lotto Spot app and said he couldn’t believe his eyes when the app told him he was the winner.

He checked again to be sure before telling his wife.

“I went into the house and scanned it for my wife. She said, ‘That can’t be right!’ so we scanned it again,” he recalled as he claimed his prize. Just shock. I still don’t think it’s real.”

The happy winner plans to put part of his windfall toward his mortgage and take a vacation to Hawaii’s beautiful islands.

“It’s unbelievable!” he added.
