Jun 9, 2022 | 1:00 PM

A first of its kind event in Prince Albert will be helping the city’s food bank.

An Aboriginal Designer Fashion on June 18, will coincide with a drive to fill a bus. Organizer Leanne Bear told paNOW she knows the food bank is struggling.

“Actually I stopped in Tuesday and the line up was all the way down towards city hall,” she said.

The bus is being donated by First Student.

While donations are pouring in, there will be plenty of entertainment in the form of an aboriginal designer fashion show.

Bear is currently putting out a call for local designers, adding she’s not just talking about ribbon skirts and clothing.

“Anything at all that people make. Doesn’t matter whether it’s slippers, mitts, hats, paintings, or bead work. They can model it or have somebody come and model it for them,” she said.

In addition to the artists and models, Bear is also inviting local powwow dancers and drum groups to come and attend.

Those interested can contact Bear through the Prince Albert Downtown Improvement District.

“Just come and dance and have fun,” Bear said.
