“Give more than you take, and you’ll get more than you give.”

You know Canadian Tire in Prince Albert.

Canadian Tire has been called Canada’s Top Department Store featuring automotive, hardware, sports, leisure, and housewares. And Canadian Tire stores have engrained themselves into communities across the country for a century – but none quite like in Prince Albert – thanks to Malcolm Jenkins.

You’ve probably heard the stories about how Mr. Jenkins selflessly gives back to the community time and again – stories like opening his store after hours to help equip local hockey teams.

But there’s more to it than that.

Mr. Jenkins believes in the importance of community and giving back to that community. But he also believes that no one can do everything on their own. He is proud to acknowledge that he has a great family and a terrific staff at Canadian Tire – and thanks to them, they are all able to work hard to make Prince Albert a great community.

Mr. Jenkins is constantly looking for ways to give back: from raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Rose Garden Hospice, a non-profit hospice providing compassionate, holistic care to people with terminal illnesses and supporting their loved ones… to the Party City Outdoor Gym at the Alfred Jenkins Field House.

But that’s not all:
• Pineview Terrace Lodge
• The Friday Night Lights campaign
• Special Olympics
• The Rotary Trail
• The Kinsmen Skateboard Park
• The E.A. Rawlinson Centre

It’s that kind of work and interest in the community that has propelled Mr. Jenkins to be voted Prince Albert’s Best Citizen in previous paNOW’s Best of the Best competitions.

Mr. Jenkins has also received a Saskatchewan Order of Merit, was the recipient of the Samuel McLeod Legacy Award, and was inducted into the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame.

As Mr. Jenkins remembers his father Alfred Jenkins once saying, “From those to whom much is given, much is expected.”
