Bears looking to punch their playoff tickets tonight at 2022 Esso Cup

The Prince Albert Northern Bears are one win away from the semifinals at the 2022 Esso Cup.

If they prove victorious in their final group stage game against the Northern Selects (1-0-1-2) from Pictou, N.S., the Bears will secure a spot in the top four and continue their tournament on Saturday. The Bears could advance as well even if they lose but would need some assistance from other matchups.

The Bears were 2-1 heading into Thursday’s contest against the Hounds, but fell 4-2 to see their record evened at 2-2.

After a scoreless first period, the Hounds scored three goals, two from Ryann Perrett and a power play goal from Keara Merriman. Payten Evans made it 4-0 for the Hounds 3:52 into the third period, but Tristyn Endicott scored a pair of goals for the Bears herself to get them back in it.
