May 10, 2022 | 4:00 PM

Cody Barnett will soon be joining the Victoria Hospital Foundation (VHF) as its new executive director.

VHF announced the change in staff Tuesday afternoon and said Barnett will start in his new role on June 1.

Barnett brings nearly 15 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, donor and community engagement, and nonprofit leadership and was the director of Development, Saskatchewan, and the National Director of Campaigns & Major Gifts with the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

He also held positions with the University of Saskatchewan, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and other organizations. Cody joins the VHF at an exciting time as the Ministry of Health and Saskatchewan Health Authority will be undergoing a major renovation and expansion of the Victoria Hospital over the next few years.

Barnett is new to Prince Albert but is impressed with the accomplishments of the community.

“The outpouring of support for the new NICU is one such example of this. I am excited to work with the donors, volunteers, staff, and Indigenous partners to provide greater access to enhanced and inclusive health care close to home. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people not only in Prince Albert but across northern Saskatchewan,” said Barnett in the press release.

Lyle Karasiuk, volunteer chair with the VHF Board of Directors said Barnett’s enthusiasm, talent, and commitment to VHF will enrich health care in the north.

The Victoria Hospital Foundation raises funds to purchase essential medical equipment and fund programs at the Victoria Hospital and two attached care homes, Herb Bassett Home and Pineview Terrace.
