This year, Prince Albert’s Karlee Lehner became the first-ever goaltender to win the Rookie of the Year Award in the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League.

Lehner was 13-3 for the Swift Current Wildcats [tied for league-lead in wins], while posting a 1.94 goals against average and .932 save percentage. Lehner also recorded three shutouts in her rookie campaign.

“I don’t think it could have gone much better,” Lehner told Swift Current Online. “I think I got a lot better being here. It really helped me a lot.”

Lehner led the Wildcats to a second-round berth in the playoffs before falling to the eventual league-champion Regina Rebels.
