Easter giving includes everyone for PAGC

In the spirit of giving and community, the Prince Albert Grand Council’s (PAGC) Easter hamper program included anyone that wants to be included.

Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte said the PAGC believes in community and so when it came time to give out food hampers the day before Easter weekend, they invited everyone rather than limiting it to their members.

“It’s a good thing. It’s something that we feel that it’s important, being part of the community and doing that for the community,” Hardlotte said.

Staff worked hard and organized boxes of food which were distributed to those who signed up starting yesterday and continuing today.

“It’s all our staff volunteering, putting the hampers together and distributing them,” Hardlotte said.

The PAGC always has a Christmas hamper program but this year decided to do an Easter one as well.

They reached out to local businesses who stepped up with help, as growers in Ontario.

“We had a lot of support from the local community retailers in the city and also the Western Ontario Produce Growers,” Hardlotte said.

Staff put out a call on social media two weeks for people to sign up for a hamper if they wanted one and got a big response.

The member Chiefs in the Grand Council like doing things for the community, Hardlotte said.

At 3:00 pm on April 14, over 1,600 hampers had been given away and vehicles were still lined up at the Senator Allen Bird Memorial Centre site in Prince Albert.
