Sask. government increases grants to veterans organizations

Apr 7, 2022 | 10:56 AM

The Saskatchewan government has hiked the value of the grants it awards under the Saskatchewan Veterans Service Club Support Program.

The maximum annual amount per club is now $30,000, up from $25,000 last year.

The provincial budget included $1.5 million for the program, which gives funding to veterans’ service organizations for repairs and upgrades, special events, operations, programs and activities.

“For a fourth consecutive year, our government is helping to strengthen the long-term sustainability of provincial service clubs — supporting veterans, their families and communities,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said in a release.

“In 2021-22, a total of 97 funding grants were provided to registered, non-profit military service clubs, Legion branches and Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans (ANAVETS) units based in Saskatchewan.”

Applications are being accepted until April 30. A second intake period will run immediately afterward, with an application deadline of Aug. 31.

More information about the program is available through the Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command at 306-525-8739 or by emailing admin@sasklegion.ca. An application form for the program can be found here.
