Flight from police leads to rush hour collision

UPDATE: Police have reported the 19-year-old woman who was arrested Friday morning has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

Prince Albert police say a driver who refused to comply to a routine traffic stop was responsible for a crash Friday morning that resulted in at least one vehicle being flipped onto its side.

The crash happened at approximately 8 a.m., near the intersection of Sixth Ave. East and 22nd Street. According to police, officers attempted a routine traffic stop, but the driver refused to comply.

Officers then deactivated their emergency equipment, however, the driver continued through the intersection and collided with another vehicle. The driver and lone occupant of the second vehicle was treated and assessed by Parkland Ambulance at the scene.

Police have taken a 19-year-old woman into custody in relation to this investigation and charges are pending.

RCMP collision reconstructionists are assisting with this investigation and are expected to be in the area for most of the morning.
