VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks have sent depth forward Tyler Motte to the New York Rangers for a fourth-round pick in the 2023 NHL entry draft.

Motte, 27, is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The native of St. Clair, Mich., has seven goals, eight assists in 49 for the Canucks this season.

He missed the beginning of the campaign after having off-season neck surgery that limited him to 24 games last year.

Vancouver also claimed veteran forward Brad Richardson off waivers from the Calgary Flames on Monday.

It’s a return to Vancouver for the 37-year-old right-winger who spent two seasons with the team from 2014-16 and has notched two goals, two assists and 27 penalty minutes in 27 games for the Flames this year.

The Canucks also did some business Sunday, acquiring defenceman Travis Dermott from the Toronto Maple Leafs for a third-round pick in the 2022 draft and sending veteran blue liner Travis Hamonic to the Ottawa Senators for a third-round selection this year.
