Prince Albert wrestlers score medals at provincials

High school wrestlers from Prince Albert have officially been acknowledged after a successful turnout at provincials in Saskatoon last weekend.

Out of 40 schools, the St. Mary team finished seventh overall with 42 points, and both Talon Halsall and Angel Besskkaystare won gold.

In her final match, Besskkaystare, who also a succesful run at regionals, defeated Myah Clatney from Bishop James Mahoney in a time of 3:43.

Corban Taylor and Bryn Cooper won silver. Cooper (62kg.)lost out to Connor Hammer from Swift Current CHS by tech fall (10-0).

Owen Ferchuk won bronze, after pinning Campbell Collegiate’s Bohdan Braaten (1:04).

Kaidence Paul finished fourth in the 90 kg division.

From Carlton, Landon Mudjar won gold in the 90 kg division, after defeating Regina’s Tyson Green by fall (0:53).

Troy Earing competed in the 130+ kg division and finished second.

After winning his opening match by fall (1:54), Earing would lose his next match to Aiden Paslowski from Holy Cross High School. In the third round, Earing beat Kayson Alexson from F.W. Johnson Collegiate.
