Rural municipalities get $262M from provincial government

Saskatchewan’s municipalities are getting more than $262 million in funding from the provincial government in 2022-23.
Premier Scott Moe made the announcement Wednesday at the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities annual convention.
The money that was put into the Municipal Revenue Sharing (MRS) Program represents an increase of more than 106 per cent from the 2007-08 fiscal year. The average investment over the previous five years was more than $260 million.
“This annual and predictable provincial revenue allows local decision-makers the flexibility to address the needs that matter most to their municipalities,” Moe said in a media release. “This unconditional provincial funding helps lay the foundation for stronger communities and a stronger Saskatchewan.”
