Graduation 2022

Grad clothing needed for all sizes

Every year, Wesmor Community School in Prince Albert opens up a ‘clothing store’ for graduates and makes sure there is a good selection of dresses and suits available.

While they do have some supply of clothing, this year the school is short of dresses in sizes starting at 16 and going up.

Gina Sinoksi is principal of the school and said each year local graduates — along with some from northern communities — shop the racks of dresses and suits looking for that special graduation outfit.

“We are always getting donations, it’s just right now we don’t have very many larger sizes so there isn’t a big selection,” she said.

Along with four racks of dresses for girls, there are two racks of suits for boys with some new items donated by businesses and others donated by previous graduates.

“We have suits also for them, as well as grad dresses. We get donations, sometimes we get them from stores so they are brand new but most of the times they are donated by individuals,” said Sinoski.

Buyers pay $25 per dress or suit, which essentially covers the dry-cleaning cost for the items.

In pre-COVID days, the school would have a fashion show and the students would watch it then buy their outfit right then.

This year, the school will have a virtual fashion show that will air via Facebook Live on April 14. Potential buyers should also check Wesmor’s other social media feeds to see the show.

Appointments to try on and buy outfits can be made starting on March 22 and continuing until June 17.

More information can be found by calling the school at 306-764-5233 and donations can be dropped off during normal school hours.
