P.A. Fire Department save trio trapped inside vehicle after rollover on Highway 11

Earlier this week the Prince Albert Fire Department helped three people escape their vehicle who were trapped after they rolled their truck.

On March 8, the fire department was called on Highway 11 south, about one kilometre from the Highway 2 intersection. Once they arrived they found a truck on its side with three people trapped inside.

They stabilized the vehicle to stop it from moving and the passengers were removed. To stabilize the vehicle, Deputy Chief Alex Paul explained they used extendable struts that are put on either side of the vehicle as a brace.

“Just so it couldn’t fall onto its roof or back onto its wheels. Hold it in the position that it’s in,” Paul said.

He added they opened one of the top doors and assisted the trio out of the truck.

Parkland Ambulance confirmed three people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Paul explained anytime they attend a rollover, using the struts is unique to that situation.

“Once you start moving people around in the vehicle to get them out or once the firefighters come close to the vehicle the last thing that you’d want to happen is to have that vehicle fall over onto somebody while they’re trying to crawl out of it,” he said.
