Man dies in Sask. Penitentiary while serving over two-year sentence

Correctional Service Canada is reporting Brendan Vermette, an inmate at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert has died.
Vermette was serving a sentence of two years, eight months and eight days for trafficking cocaine. In July 2020, police arrested Vermette after a two month investigation which led to a search warrant and a seizure of 285.5 grams of crack cocaine, 2,065 grams of cocaine, and $100,000 cash.
His next of kin has been notified of his death and in all cases of an inmate death, Correctional Service Canada will review the incident.
