Modern dance offered up for TeleMiracle performance

A modern dance performed by Prince Albert’s own Performing Arts Warehouse will be part of this year’s TeleMiracle show.

On Sunday morning, the dozen dancers will perform and then talk about the experience on air.

“It was pretty exciting for them to kind of get that sense of normalcy. They wore their costumes and it was just a good opportunity for them,” said Jenna Trawin, who is with the group.

Local teacher and choreographer Barb Jones adapted a number from last year’s recital for this year’s TeleMiracle.

The dancers will not perform live at the event but did get to go to Saskatoon for a taped performance.

The group of girls, ranging in age from 15 to 20, were exited to be able to perform without masks for the event.

“There’s definitely a camaraderie there between the girls and even through their fundraising efforts to how everyone kind of helped out and really gotten together as a group,” Trawin said.

Dancers along with their parents held multiple fundraisers over the last few months, selling candy boxes and holding a yoga class.

They managed to raise more than $5,000.

While Performing Arts Warehouse has made appearances in the past at TeleMiracle, the last one in a group format was in 2019.

“They are so thankful to have a chance to perform,” Trawin said.

They will air about 10:00 am on Sunday, March 6.
