Third person sentenced in Dylan Chretien murder

A woman who was present when a man from Lloydminster was brutally beaten and carried out of a Prince Albert apartment, has received a nine month jail sentence and six months probation.

Christy Roy, 43, was sentenced, after entering a guilty plea related to obstruction of justice.

The victim, Dylan Chretien was reported missing on Nov. 2, 2019 and found deceased just over a month later.

According to the statement of facts, Chretien had on Oct. 26, 2019, agreed to drive a female friend from Lloydminster to Prince Albert, and would take her to a known “trap house” in the 600 block of 28th St. E.

He then stayed there with the occupants, after his friend left with someone else. The friend was later arrested on an unrelated matter.

At some point, the gang members asked Chretien to go get Chinese food, even providing him with a fraudulent credit card. He was also asked to withdraw $100.

Chretien returned with the Chinese food and then left again, only to receive a text message a short time later inquiring where the cash was.

When Chretien returned to the apartment, he was taken into a back bedroom, and viciously assaulted. The apartment was at the time being rented by Roy and she and several others were instructed not to leave, while the vicious attack was being carried out. The music being played in the apartment was turned up in an effort to drown out Chretien’s screams.

While still conscious, and covered in blood, Chretien was then carried out of the apartment, pleading for help from the people in the living room. Roy was among these people.

Chretien was then tossed into a vehicle and left for dead in a field northwest of the city near the Saskatchewan Penitentiary.

Police would later locate the body using the last known location on his phone. The pathologist could not determine the cause of death, however found evidence of multiple stab wounds, blunt force trauma to the head, and signs of ligature strangulation.

For her part, Roy and others were directed to clean the bloodied bedroom, and because of the extensive work they did, police were unable to recover any meaningful forensic evidence.

Roy received 251 days credit for her time spent in custody, which matched the sentence imposed so she has been released. Among her probation conditions are reporting to a probation officer, and not having contact with any of the five co-accused in the case, or the female friend who had initially been provided a ride.

Max Moostoos and Brandon Daniels have previously been sentenced on similar charges, and Tara Bird’s charge of being an accessory to murder, after the fact, was stayed.

Sharise Sutherland-Kayseas, Sheldon Goodvoice, and Brandon Smith have pending court dates at Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench.

Sutherland-Kayseas, Sheldon Goodvoice were both charged with first degree murder, while Smith was charged with second degree murder.
