Young soccer players score big at final Club Day of the season

Feb 16, 2022 | 8:00 AM

It was an exciting weekend for dozens of young soccer players in Prince Albert.

The Prince Albert Youth Soccer Association recently held its final Club Day of the season with ASTRA Academy from Saskatoon, touted as one of the best soccer academies in the province.

“I have to say I was presently surprised by our results,” said technical director with the soccer association, Dragan Ivkovic. “Obviously COVID hurt everybody but you can play them now, which is good.”

A total of 24 games were played with players from U9- U19.

The Celtic competitive teams came up big with 16 wins, three ties and five losses.

However, as Ivkovic explained, the clubs are not done playing yet.

“We have a tournament going on next week in Saskatoon and after that, we have provincials for all the age groups, first two weeks in March.”

Ivkovic added in-person spring registration will take place March 1 and 2 while online registration has now opened.
