Hoback thanks O’Toole for his leadership

A day after Erin O’Toole was voted out as the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, MP of Prince Albert Randy Hoback has released a statement thanking him.

Yesterday, members of the Conservative party caucus voted 73-45 to turf O’Toole and decide on a new leader in the future.

Hoback stated he would like to thank O’Toole for his leadership and commitment to the party. As a friend, he wished the best for him and his family.

He also wanted to congratulate Candace Bergen on being chosen as the interim leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.

“I look forward to working with her to keep Justin Trudeau’s feet to the fire,” Hoback said.

Hoback did not respond to a request for interview.

MP for Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek Kelly Block also released a statement thanking O’Toole for his service.

“The Conservative Party has always been a big tent party made up of thousands of members who support our founding principles and a shared commitment to stand up for all Canadians. We must now rebuild and demonstrate that we are a government in waiting ready to govern for the good of all,” Block said in the statement.

“Finally, I want to congratulate the Honourable Candice Bergen on being chosen as the interim leader. She is a skilled parliamentarian and will do an excellent job of unifying our Conservative caucus and holding the Trudeau Liberal government to account for their harmful and divisive policies.”
