Mintos’ return home with tremendous triumph over Tisdale Trojans

Jan 20, 2022 | 10:29 AM

After not playing in their home rink for close to a month, the Prince Albert Mintos made up for lost time by piling on goals. They put up a seven-spot on their regional rivals, the Tisdale Trojans, in a comfortable but still wacky 7-4 victory.

Mintos’ standout Jacob Cossette had a hat trick and four-point night as he continues his dominance of the Saskatchewan U18 AAA Hockey League. Cossette now has 58 points in 29 games played, 15 more points than Regina Pat Canadians’ Ben Riche, who is runner up with 43 points in 32 games played.

Although Cossette was a game-breaking monster for the Mintos, he didn’t do it by himself. Karson Blanchette had four assists in the contest. Kamloops Blazers second-round pick Ashton Tait had two goals and a helper, while Zach Bansley had the other Mintos’ goal.

The Mintos are back on the road Friday when they take on the Warman Wildcats at 8 p.m. at the Legends Centre. They will return to the Hauser on Sunday to take on Prince Albert Raiders’ first-rounder Cole Peardon and the Saskatoon Blazers, 1:30 p.m.
