SaskTel has announced near $209,000 in TelCare donations will go to help organizations in multiple districts across the province.

In Prince Albert and area, $9,300 was donated to six charities including the Alzheimers Society of Saskatchewan, Kidney Foundation of Canada, Lung Association of Saskatchewan, Lupus SK Society Inc, Prince Albert and District Community Service, and the Victoria Hospital Foundation.

North Battleford and district also received $10,200 that was distributed to seven charities. These charities are Lloydminster and District SPCA, Lung Association of Saskatchewan, North Battleford Daycare Centre, Meadow Lake and Area Early Childhood Services, Meadow Lake Outreach Ministries Inc., Prairie Branches Enterprises Inc., and The Humane Society of Battlefords.

The Humboldt District Hospital Foundation will also receive a donation under the Saskatoon district. Meanwhile, charities in Regina, Saskatoon, Estevan, Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Weyburn, and Yorkton also received donations.

“Saskatchewan people are known for their generosity, and year over year the employees at SaskTel have been an outstanding example of this,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “It’s wonderful to see so many people continue to support non-profit organizations in their own communities.”

The donations came from the SaskTel TelCare fund which collects the funds from a voluntary payroll deduction from their employees. This year they raised approximately $140,000 and SaskTel matched 50 per cent of that creating a total of near $209,000 for 47 organizations in the province. There were 648 employees who supported the fund averaging $200 per year, plus the matching $100 from SaskTel.

“SaskTel employees really are the driving force behind TelCare” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel president and CEO. “What makes me proud to work for a company like SaskTel is that the corporation and its employees have always embraced giving back to the communities where we live and work and I’m glad to say the same for 2021.”
