Warrant issued for Pelican Narrows man following New Years Eve shooting

UPDATE: The RCMP have reported Tanner Ballantyne was arrested on Jan. 21 without incident. He made his first court appearance and was remanded until his next court date on Jan. 25 in Pelican Narrows.

Pelican Narrows RCMP are actively trying to locate and arrest a 22-year-old male following a shooting incident on Dec. 31.

At approximately 3:40 a.m. on New Years Eve, Pelican Narrows RCMP received a complaint of a shooting and found an injured adult male at a residence in the community. He was transported to hospital with what are described as serious injuries.

As a result of investigation, Pelican Narrows RCMP have charged Tanner Ballantyne of Pelican Narrows, Sask. with:

  • One count, discharge firearm with intent, Section 244, Criminal Code
  • One count, aggravated assault, Section 268, Criminal Code
  • One count, possession of firearm while unauthorized, Section 92(3)(a), Criminal Code
  • One count, possession of weapon contrary to order, Section 117.01(3) Criminal Code
  • One count, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code

Tanner Ballantyne is described as approximately 5-11 and 155 lbs and has black hair and brown eyes. He has connections to Pelican Narrows and Prince Albert.

Ballantyne is considered armed and dangerous and he should not be approached.
