Province reports 4 deaths and 47 new cases in province, 10 in north

On Tuesday, the province reported 47 new cases of COVID-19 which includes 28 cases among unvaccinated people.

Four new deaths were reported as well. This brings the provincial total to 941 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died.

The province confirmed 10 new cases in Northern Saskatchewan; Far North West (one), North West (four) and North Central (five).

There are currently 545 active cases in the province.

Since the pandemic began there have been 81,899 confirmed cases of the virus and 80,413 recoveries.

Just over one-quarter (25.5 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.

More than two-fifths (42.2 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged five years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of Dec. 14, a total of 110 people with COVID are in hospital including 34 in ICU. Of the 110 patients, 69 (62.7 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

In a media release Tuesday, Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Health said the last of the people who were being treated in Ontario had returned home.

“I would like to pass along my sincerest thanks, not only to the Government of Ontario but even more so to the numerous doctors and health-care professionals involved with providing support to Saskatchewan residents receiving care in Ontario hospitals,” Health Minister Paul Merriman said

As of Dec. 14, 845,205 Saskatchewan residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

COVID-19 Summary for December 14, 2021:

There were 437 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan from Dec. 8–14, bringing the provincial total to 81,899 cases. There were 498 recoveries recorded during the same period.

Seven new deaths were reported from Dec. 8–14.

From Dec. 8–14, 12,759 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,777,193. An additional 169,365 third and fourth doses have been given in the province.

As of Tuesday, 87 per cent of residents 12 years and older and 83 per cent of residents five years and older have received their first dose. About 83 per cent of residents 12 years and older and 75 per cent of residents five years and older are fully vaccinated.

NITHA numbers

As of Dec. 13, the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported no new cases in NITHA communities.

There are seven active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are found in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, five; Far North East, one; North Central, 0; and North East, one.

There have been 6,854 (99 per cent) recoveries. There are currently no hospitalizations.

Athabasca Health Authority

Athabasca Health Authority (AHA) continues to report no new or active COVID-19 cases. However, Taiwo Olubanwo, AHA executive director of Primary Health Care continues to encourage people to get their vaccinations.
