Sixty-nine new COVID cases and one death reported today in the province

As of Dec. 10, there are 69 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, 39 among unvaccinated individuals.

Six new cases are located in northern zones of the province; North West (one) and North Central (five).

One new deaths reported today bringing the provincial total to 937 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died.

As of today, there are 653 cases that are currently considered active, 153 of which have been identified in northern zones of the province. This is a jump of 31 active cases from yesterday’s total.

Almost one-third (31.9 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.

More than two-fifth (42.6 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 5 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of Dec. 10, a total of 117 individuals are hospitalized; including 84 inpatient hospitalizations, and 33 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 118 patients, 75 (64.1 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

In addition to Saskatchewan ICU counts, there is one resident receiving out of province care in hospital. As this patient is receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard.

NITHA numbers

As of Dec. 9, the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported no new cases in NITHA communities.

There are 16 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, eight; Far North East, six; North Central, one; and North East, one. There have been 6,845 cases (99 per cent) that have recovered, and one person is hospitalized.

There have been a total of 81,646 cases confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began; 19,906 cases are from the North area (8,847 North West, 8,222 North Central, 2,837 North East) and 9,371 cases are from the Far North area (4,404 Far North West, 541 Far North Central, 4,426 Far North East). There have been 80,056 cases that have been considered recovered.

Athabasca Health Authority

Athabasca Health Authority (AHA) continues to report no new or active COVID-19 cases. However, Taiwo Olubanwo, AHA executive director of Primary Health Care continues to encourage people to get their vaccinations.
