Daily COVID-19 numbers report 71 new cases, one death

The province has reported 71 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan today.

The new cases are in northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (three), Far North East (two), North West (11), North Central (five), North East (three), and one new case has pending residence information.

In total, 733 cases are considered active and 79,484 cases are considered recovered. Almost one-third (31 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39. Almost one-third (31.9 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged five years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of today, a total of 134 individuals are hospitalized, including 99 inpatient hospitalizations and 35 intensive care hospitalizations. Of the 134 patients, 90 (67.2 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

There is one new death reported today, for a total of 928 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

NITHA numbers

As of Dec. 1, the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported two new cases on Monday in NITHA communities. Of the new cases, one (50 per cent) was unvaccinated and one (50 per cent) was fully vaccinated.

There are seven active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, two; Far North East, five; North Central, 0; and North East, 0. There have been 6,853 cases (99 per cent) recovered, and one person is being hospitalized.

Note — The difference in the numbers is due to the removal of transferred cases.

Athabasca Health Authority

Athabasca Health Authority (AHA) continues to report no new or active COVID-19 cases. However, Taiwo Olubanwo, AHA executive director of Primary Health Care continues to encourage people to get their vaccinations.
