Province reports 62 new cases of COVID-19 today, active case total drops by 120 from yesterday

As of Nov. 21, there are 62 new confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Of the new cases, 22 have been reported in Northern Saskatchewan; Far North West (two), North West (two), North Central (12) and North East (six).

Almost one-third (32.3 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 11 or under.

Just over two-fifths (42.9 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

One new death reported today which brings the provincial total to 911 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died.

There are currently 1,047 cases considered active, which includes 255 currently active in the six Northern regions of the province. This is a drop of 120 active cases from yesterday’s provincial total.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 80,340 cases have been confirmed; 19,625 cases are from the North area (8,731 North West, 8,072 North Central, 2,822 North East) and 9,307 cases are from the Far North area (4,380 Far North West, 541 Far North Central, 4,386 Far North East).

As of Nov. 21, a total of 150 individuals are hospitalized; including 114 inpatient hospitalizations, and 36 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 150 patients, 105 (70.0 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

In addition to SK ICU counts, there are eight residents receiving out-of-province care in hospital. As these patients are receiving care out-of-province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard. Since yesterday’s report, there has been one repatriation.

NITHA numbers

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported six new cases in NITHA communities on Nov. 20. Of the new cases, four (67 per cent) were unvaccinated and two (33 per cent) were partially vaccinated.

There are 36 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.
These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 19; Far North East, three; North Central, 12; and North East, two. There have been 6838 cases (99 per cent) have recovered, and seven people are being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

As of Nov. 19 there were no new or active cases of COVID-19 in Athabasca communities in the Far North Central provincial zone. The AHA is still encouraging residents to get vaccinated with over half of residents already fully vaccinated as of Nov. 15.
