New COVID-19 cases brings provincial total to 80,000 since beginning of pandemic

The provincial government is reporting another 89 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today; 51 among unvaccinated individuals, including 18 children between the ages of 0-11.

This brings the provincial total to 80,025 cases since the pandemic began, 1,102 cases that are currently active and 78,015 cases that have been reported recovered.

There are 242 actives cases are in the northern zones of the province including nine new cases that were reported today; Far North West (one), North West (four), North Central (three), and North East (one).

Three new deaths reported today brings the provincial total to 908 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died.

Over one-third (34.8 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39 years.

Almost one-half (45.1 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) was fully vaccinated.

As of Nov. 19, a total of 157 individuals are hospitalized; including 118 inpatient hospitalizations, and 39 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 157 patients, 109 (69.4 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

In addition to Saskatchewan ICU counts, there are ten residents receiving out-of-province care in hospital. As these patients are receiving care out-of-province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard. Since yesterday’s report, there has been one repatriation.

NITHA numbers

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported three new cases on Nov. 18 in NITHA communities. Of the new cases, two (67 per cent) were unvaccinated and one (33 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 40 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 20; Far North East, six; North Central, 12; and North East, two. There have been 6,827 cases (99 per cent) have recovered, and seven people are hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

As of Nov. 19 there were no new or active cases of COVID-19 in Athabasca communities in the Far North Central provincial zone. The AHA is still encouraging residents to get vaccinated with over half of residents already fully vaccinated as of Nov. 15.
