Ninety-five new cases of COVID-19 and four deaths reported today, 1,100 cases currently active

The province has reported another 95 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, 11 are located in Northern Saskatchewan.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (three), North West (three), North Central (five) with 249 currently active cases in the six northern zones.

Four new deaths were reported today bringing the provincial total 905 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died.

Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 79,937 confirmed cases, including 19,513 from the North (8,680 North West, 8,021 North Central, 2,812 North East).

There are currently 1,100 cases considered active, a drop of four cases from yesterday’s total, and 77,932 cases are considered recovered since the beginning of the pandemic.

Just over two-fifths (41.1 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39 years.

More than one-quarter (26.4 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of Nov. 18, a total of 161 individuals are hospitalized; including 123 inpatient hospitalizations, and 38 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 161 patients, 108 (67.1 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

In addition to Saskatchewan ICUs, there are 11 residents in out-of-province ICUs. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard.

NITHA numbers

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported four new cases to report on Nov. 17 in NITHA communities.

Of the new cases, two (50 per cent) were unvaccinated and two (50 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 38 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 18; Far North East, six; North Central, 12; and North East, two. There have been 6,826 cases (99 per cent) that have recovered, and seven people are being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

As of Nov. 17 there were no new or active cases of COVID-19 in Athabasca communities in the Far North Central provincial zone. The AHA is still encouraging residents to get vaccinated with over half of residents already fully vaccinated as of Nov. 15.
