The final week in April next year has been set aside to hear the details surrounding the death of a young mother from La Ronge.

Cory Clarke, 33, has been charged with second degree murder in the death last May of Natasha Ross. The purpose of the hearing is to hear the crown’s evidence, and see if there’s enough for the accused to face trial.

Ross, 29, was found unresponsive when police arrived at a West Hill residence on May 24. She was pronounced deceased soon after.

Family members have previously indicated to paNOW she was visiting the city, but they did not know who she was with. Ross had a six-year-old son.

In July, a Canada-wide warrant was issued for Clarke’s arrest and just days later he was found in Nunavut, outside a mining exploration camp.

In addition to the recent murder charge, Clarke also faces three court related breaches.

According to court records at La Ronge Provincial Court, Clarke was charged in November, 2020, with sexual assault, and his subsequent bail related release conditions included he not leave the community, nevertheless the province.

The sexual assault charge was subsequently stayed by the Crown on Oct. 15.
