Sask. Pen inmate re-captured after short period on the run
Less than five hours after walking away from the minimum security unit at Saskatchewan Penitentiary, a man serving a three year sentence for manslaughter was found and arrested.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Duran Laplante was apprehended by the Prince Albert City Police.
He was initially found unaccounted for at 10:00 p.m. Saturday night, following an evening count at the prison.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Prince Albert RCMP detachment and a warrant for his arrest had been issued. According to a statement from the CSC, they are now conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
