Weekend recaps for Mintos, Bears, and Titans

Nov 14, 2021 | 6:26 PM

The Prince Albert Mintos suffered their biggest defeat of the season so far, falling 5-1 to the Saskatoon Blazers on Sunday. Carter Hansen scored the lone goal for the Mintos. Liam Rodman, a 2019 pick of the Prince Albert Raiders, scored for the Blazers in the contest.

The Mintos got leapfrogged by the Blazers (10-2-) in the standings after Sunday’s game, and are now 9-5-1 in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League standings.

Da Bears

The Prince Albert Northern Bears suffered a sweep at the hands of the Notre Dame Hounds, the top team in the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League. The Hounds won both games in regulation, 6-1 on Saturday and 5-2 on Sunday in Wilcox. Claudia Lammers had the lone Saturday goal for the Bears, while Sasha Malenfant and Erin Kirkland scored on Sunday.

Titans Hockey

The Prince Albert Titans split their two home Prairie Junior Hockey League games this weekend at the Kinsmen Arena, falling 6-3 to the Pilot Butte Storm (11-4-1) on Saturday, before 5-4 win over the Regina Silver Foxes (2-12-1). The Titans are now 3-9-1 on the season.

Prince Albert’s Ethan Ironside, who started the year at the WHL level with the Prince Albert Raiders, played his first two games with the Titans this weekend. He scored a goal in Saturday’s defeat, and had a goal and three helpers in the win over the Silver Foxes on Sunday. That gives Ironside two goals, five points and 10 penalty minutes through two Titans games.
