CROWSNEST PASS, AB – A Southern Alberta MP will play an important role within the Conservative Party of Canada.

Leader Erin O’Toole announced the members of his Shadow Cabinet Tuesday morning, detailing which members of the official opposition will work opposite to Liberal ministers.

John Barlow, the MP for Foothills, was appointed the Shadow Minister for Agriculture, Agri-Food and Food Security.

“It is an honour to serve as Shadow Minister for Agriculture, Agri-Food and Food Security. The importance of agriculture to our national interest cannot be overstated. I look forward to once again working with stakeholders from across Canada and championing Canadian agriculture,” Barlow said in a Facebook post.

The only other member from Southern Alberta in the new Shadow Cabinet is Michelle Rempel Garner from Calgary Nose Hill, who will serve as the Shadow Minister for Natural Resources.

Lethbridge MP Rachael Harder, who was appointed as the Shadow Minister for Digital Government just earlier this year did not make the cut this time around.
