Brent Butt returns to EA Rawlinson Centre in the new year

One of Canada’s brightest stars is returning to Prince Albert.

Tickets are now on sale for An Evening with Brent Butt, which will take place at the EA Rawlinson Centre (EARC) in late January 2022.

“We’re pretty excited to have him back,” said Cara Stelmaschuk, EARC marketing and events coordinator. “The last time he was here was in 2015. He’ll be bringing his own special brand of comedy. He’s obviously a funny guy and he’s turned that into some great success.”

That success includes touring on the international stage, creating his own TV series Corner Gas. It became an instant hit with unprecedented ratings and an international Emmy Award nomination among other accolades. His follow-up series Hiccups ran for two season. The native of Tisdale, Sask., also has two feature films under his belt and a Corner Gas: Animated series that immediately became the #1 rated show in the history of Canada’s The Comedy Network.

“But it all started with his stand. A mellow, low key, very Saskatchewan brand of humour that speaks to a lot of people – especially those from his own province,” said Stelmaschuk.

Tickets are $49.99 including taxes and the evening will feature a special guest performer to be announced at a later date.

Butt’s show follows a series of concerts to help close out the 2021-22 season at the EARC. Up next is Jake Vaadeland and the Sturgeon River Boys Nov. 10. The 18-year-old is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Saskatchewan whose sound could be defined as a blend of Bluegrass and 50s’ Rockabilly. He also specializes in guitar and banjo in addition to his impressive vocals.

Following Vaadeland, the EARC will host Canadian country music artist Zachary Lucky (Nov. 19) who Stelmaschuk said reminds him of Chris Christopherson and Gordon Lightfoot. At the end of the month (Nov. 25), platinum-selling, three-time Juno Award-winning Winnipeg artist Chantel Kreviazuk will perform her new album.

“Christmas is just around the corner and all of these shows would be great gifts. You can head to our website where we have videos of each of the performers so you can preview the act, read the bio and then purchase tickets right there online,” said Stelmaschuk.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative test are required before entering the EARC or any City of Prince Albert facility.
