P.A. to see warmer temperatures this week, possible snowfall to follow

Environment Canada is reporting warmer temperatures later this week and potential snowfall next week after a mild October.

According to meteorologist Terri Lang with Environment Canada, the Prince Albert area are experiencing temperature swings we usually see this time of year.

“It was quite mild before the weekend and then we had that cold front move through, and we got some real cold temperatures this morning,” Lang told paNOW. “We will see a gradual increase during the week to well above seasonal temperatures.”

The 30-year average for this time of year in Prince Albert is a high of 1 Celsius and an overnight low of -8 C. Lang said towards the end of this week the community could see a high of 10 C with warmer air moving in.

“We are keeping an eye on a system that moved through looks like into the middle of next week that may bring some snow with it. It’s just got that right propel to it but it’s a little far out for us to say for sure what the exact path of it will be,” she explained adding many things can change in a long-range forecast.

Regina, Saskatoon, and parts of southern Saskatchewan have had their first snowfall of the year which, P.A. is still waiting on. Lang said that is unusual for this time of year, but the province did have a very warm October.

“I think we were quite spoiled cause normally we see snow well before that but it’s still coming,” she said. “Doesn’t mean we’re going to get super warm into November but it’s that time of year and I would advise people that while we are in this nicer streak to get themselves ready for winter because we know it’s coming as much as we’re in denial about it.”
