Province reports 189 new cases, four deaths; lowest active cases since Sept. 1

As of Oct. 30, there are 189 new confirmed cases of COVID-19; 143 are in individuals who are unvaccinated, including 56 are in children between the ages of 0-11.

Four new deaths reported today; 850 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died.

There are 46 new cases located in Northern Saskatchewan zones; the Far North West (five), Far North East (two), North West (seven), North Central (23), North East (nine).

There are currently 2,307 cases that are considered active, 57 cases from yesterday and 648 have been identified in the Northern Saskatchewan regions.

This is the lowest the total active cases have been since Sept. 1 and third time in that time that new daily cases has been below 200.

Since the the pandemic, there has been 77,494 positive cases identified in the province, 74,337 of which are considered recovered.

More than one quarter (29.6 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 11 and under.

More than one quarter (28.6 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of October 30th, a total of 226 individuals are hospitalized; including 173 inpatient hospitalizations, and 53 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 226 patients, 159 (70.4 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

In addition to Saskatchewan ICUs, there are 23 residents in out-of-province ICUs. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in dashboard. One out of province patient was repatriated to Saskatchewan Oct. 29 and is now included in the hospitalization (in-patient) statistics in the COVID-19 dashboard.

NITHA numbers

On Oct. 29, there are five new cases to report today in NITHA communities; four (80 per cent) were unvaccinated, 0 are partially vaccinated and one (20 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 179 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.
These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 43; Far North East, 99; North Central, 21; and North East, 16. There have been 6584 cases (97 per cent) that have recovered, and 11 people are hospitalized.
