Raiders and Wheat Kings set to clash at Art Hauser Centre

Oct 29, 2021 | 1:07 PM

The Prince Albert Raiders will look to turn the tables as they meet the Brandon Wheat Kings for the second time this season.

The last time these teams faced was on Oct. 8, where Brandon skated away with a 5-2 win on home ice. Terrell Goldsmith and Reece Vitelli scored the only goals for Prince Albert in that game.

Both teams are coming off tough losses in Alberta after the Raiders lost 5-3 to Lethbridge and Brandon fell 3-2 to the Calgary Hitmen.

Evan Herman had two goals in the loss, while Tyson Laventure put up a goal and an assist. Tikhon Chaika stopped 24 shots in his WHL debut.

Remy Aquilon had two shots in that game and is looking to improve on that performance at home, especially since being reunited with captain Kaiden Guhle.

“I know last year even we were sort of jumbling the lines. Now that we’ve got our final d-core set here, it’s nice to have someone you can always look at,” Aquilon said.

Newly acquired forward Carter Massier is expected to be in the lineup for Friday’s game. The team made a pair of moves earlier this week, releasing 2001-born forward Michael Horon and re-assigning Bryce Warkentine to the MJHL’s Steinbach Pistons.

The Wheat Kings and Raiders play a home-and-home series this weekend with Friday’s game starting at 7 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre.
