Prince Albert’s Ashton Tait heated up in a hurry at the WHL Cup in Red Deer. Tait scored twice 64 game-seconds apart to lead Team Saskatchewan to their first point in the tournament, in a 5-4 overtime loss to Team Alberta on Thursday.

Tait scored with 46 seconds remaining in the first period, before scoring another quick one 18 seconds into the second to give Sask a 4-0 lead. Cole Pearson and Dawson Gerwing scored in the first period for Saskatchewan.

But Alberta would climb all the way back with goals from Brock Souch and Gavin Garland in the second, and Keith McInnis and Zane Saab in the third. Marek Howell scored in overtime to give Alberta the win.

Team Sask is now 0-1-1 to start the tournament after Wednesday’s 8-1 loss to B.C. They’ll take on Manitoba on Friday at 3:15 for their next game.
