La Ronge, Prince Albert friendship centres benefit from Co-op orange button campaign
Lake Country Co-op is donating more than $7,100 to La Ronge’s Kikinahk Friendship Centre and the Prince Albert Indian Métis Friendship Centre.
Back in September, Lake Country Co-op held an orange button fundraiser in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. At each of its locations, customers had the opportunity to purchase a button for $2 with Co-op matching each donation.
“I think it was well received with everybody,” said assistant grocery manager Kirk Fedje based in La Ronge. “A lot of people came in and they wanted a whole bunch of buttons. I think the community got all behind it and we could have sold quite a bit more I think.”
Both friendship centres will receive a cheque for $3,553 with a presentation having already occurred in La Ronge on Wednesday.
