Saskatchewan communities lighting up in blue and purple for Disability Employment Awareness

Oct 15, 2021 | 8:00 AM

Cities across Saskatchewan will be lit up in purple and blue recognizing National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Different businesses, centres, and municipal buildings in Prince Albert, North Battleford, La Ronge, Humboldt, Regina, Saskatoon, and Swift Current will be taking part in the initiative ‘Light It Up! For NDEAM™’ on Oct. 21, 2021.

Communities in all 10 provinces and the Northwest Territories will be participating.

According to the ODENetwork, the Eagle’s Nest youth ranch in P.A. will be lighting up the outside of their building.

In North Battleford, the Prairie Employment Program building and Battlefords Trade and Education centre will be involved, while NorthSask Special Needs Inc. in La Ronge and Humboldt’s City Hall will also be participating.

Additional businesses are also being encouraged to take part.

“Light It Up! For NDEAM is literally shining a spotlight on the many ways people who have a disability contribute to businesses and communities across Canada, and how they help companies be successful and competitive,” said Jeannette Campbell, CEO of the Ontario Disability Employment Network (ODEN).

On October 21, people across the country will be asked to share photos on social media along with #LightItUpForNDEAM, #LightItUp1021, and #EngageTalent.
