Gateway Mall celebrates 40 years of business in Prince Albert

After starting business in 1981, four decades later the Gateway Mall in Prince Albert is proud to celebrate its 40th anniversary today.

The mall created a glimpse of the past 40 years in both a uniquely crafted picture display and powerpoint presentation. Both pieces are displayed in the window showcases under the skylight area of the mall.

“We are recognizing the significance of 40 years of business in Prince Albert,” Donna Hordyski, marketing coordinator told paNOW. “We will be celebrating in the mall here with participating merchants.

“The powerpoint presentation has information right from inception when the Gateway Mall was just in drawings to it being built and the stores that were involved in the beginning, right up to today. It’s an overall glimpse of the last 40 years of Gateway Mall’s presence in Prince Albert.”

She also added pictures from the past 40 years will be on one of their mannequins on display, in the form of a dress.

“With COVID it’s a little difficult to have a big celebration,” Hordyski said. “Guests will see the powerpoint presentation and the lady who is dressed with all 40 years of comings and goings of the mall.”

The ‘Jail and Bail’ for the cancer society fundraiser they are regularly a part of has been a major highlight for them.

“We have been involved in many other different things that have come to Prince Albert too,” Hordyski said. “Any of the bake sales, and raffles, and anything that has to do with the community, we have been behind them all the way.”

Sharon Faul, manager of the mall added that although they are celebrating a successful past four decades, they are also looking forward to a very exciting future.

“This is a very exciting time for our shopping center,” Faul said. “We have got some great prospects that we are pursuing right now through our leasing folks, and we are looking forward to all of the exciting changes that will be happening in the new year.”

Until Saturday, October 16th the Gateway Mall will be running a promotion where 16 vendors in the mall will be involved. Guests can take a ballot from one of the stores and enter into a draw and win $40 gift cards.
