Brotherhood Screening in Humboldt

Oct 14, 2021 | 8:59 AM

Brotherhood comes to the most resilient community in Canada, when it premieres in Humboldt, Saskatchewan on October 15th at Reel Attractions Cinemas.

“In audiences talk-backs, when I was trying to impart the magnitude of shock and grief felt about the Brotherhood of St. Andrew’s accident, I would often reference the Humboldt tragedy of 2018,” says director Richard Bell. “Both incidents – nine decades apart from one another – sent shockwaves through Canada and beyond. They are the moments when a nation’s soul aches.”

“There are parallels between the Brotherhood story and what happened here,” says cinema operator Shannon Yager. “There’s the calamity of lost youth, but there’s also the themes of healing and perseverance, and the notion we can only recover from horrible things when we come together as community. I feel Brotherhood will resonate here.”

Director Richard Bell will present the matinee and evening screenings on October 17th and do a discussion with audiences.
