507 new cases reported by the government, 4,703 considered active

The provincial government has reported 507 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.

The new cases in northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (17), Far North East (35), North West (64), North Central (66), North East (17), and 29 new cases have pending residence information.

There are 4,703 cases considered active and 66,583 cases are considered recovered. More than one-quarter, (27.8 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.

About one in 20 (5.3 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of October 9, a total of 333 individuals are hospitalized; including 254 inpatient hospitalizations, and 79 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 333 patients, 252 (75.7 per cent) were not fully vaccinated

There is one new death reported today. This means 747 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of one per cent.

NITHA data

As of Oct. 9, there are 72 new cases to report today in NITHA communities.

Of the new cases, 42 (58 per cent) were unvaccinated, 15 (21 per cent) are partially vaccinated and 15 (21 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 253 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), six; Far North West, 67; Far North East, 129; North Central, 42; and North East, nine.

There are 6,049 cases (95 per cent) recovered, and eight people are hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

As of Oct. 8 the Athabasca Health Authority is recording two new recoveries with no new CoVID-19 cases.

Total active COVID-19 cases is now six with five in Fond Du Lac and one in Black Lake. Note that the CoVID-19 vaccine rate is steadily increasing.

Fond Du Lac will soon hit 50 per cent fully vaccinated and Black Lake has also increased to 20 per cent fully vaccinated.
