An editorial cartoon published following the fatal Humboldt Broncos bus crash will soon be immortalized on a postage stamp.

On Friday, Canada Post unveiled a stamp featuring the drawing from editorial cartoonist Bruce MacKinnon.

The cartoon portrays all Canadian provinces as hockey players; all but one are dressed in red as they hold up Saskatchewan, dressed in the Broncos colours of green and gold.

The editorial cartoon paid tribute to the Humboldt Broncos and all of Canada, following the tragic crash that killed 16 members of the team.

“His deeply touching tribute to a reservist killed at the National War Memorial was shared around the country and the world,” Canada Post said in a release. “As was his cartoon following the Humboldt Broncos bus crash in 2018. On such dark days, he reflects the gravity of the situation in a way that he calls “subtle and nuanced.”

The stamp is part of a new series from Canada Post, honouring five of Canada’s greatest editorial cartoonists. The other cartoonists featured include Serge Chapleau, Brian Gable, Terry Mosher and Duncan Macpherson.
