Oct 4, 2021 | 4:55 PM

Nearly two months after 40-year-old Doris Broussie was found in Prince Albert suffering from severe injuries, police have laid a charge of second-degree murder in the case.

Francine Ballantyne, 28, made her first court appearance in Prince Albert last week and is scheduled to appear again on Oct. 22.

In the early morning hours of Aug. 5, 2021, Broussie was found badly injured at a business in the 3600 block of Second Ave. W. She was assessed by paramedics and later transported to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.

Two days later she was declared deceased by medical staff. The relationship between the victim and the accused is unknown at this time, as well as the cause of death.

According to Broussie’s obituary, she was living in Prince Albert at the time of the violent incident but was formerly from Black Lake.
